Either Barack Obama genuinely believes what he says, or he is the greatest con man in recent history, or he is so deeply delusional, medical attention is recommended. The only other option is all three characterizations apply.
Speaking September 7 at the University of Illinois, appearing there to receive an ‘ethics’ award, the former President said what he always says, and did what he always does: he droned and preached and complained and condescended around the themes of hope, and change, and get out the vote.
Tickling the ears of starry-eyed undergrads, like Smokey Bear, he intoned: “Only you can save our democracy!” In typical fashion Obama pointed to government as the solution, failing to realize government is rarely the solution, although it is frequently the problem, an aggravator of problems, and a creator of problems. It must rankle Obama no end seeing this administration’s wild successes economically largely by getting government out of the way!
And as usual, in his arrogance, Obama ignored his record, speaking out of both sides of his mouth.
He called for peaceful bipartisanship, then turned and demonized Republicans over and over, especially President Trump, urging his acolytes to ‘Fight!’ It was the same old Obama who urged followers years ago to bring a gun to a knife fight, or some such nonsense.
After a homily about what unity requires, he decried ‘dark times’ and the politics of fear and division, then turned right around to spread fear and division.
Obama said Trump, Republicans, and the Koch Brothers are threats to democracy, forwarding the myth ours is a democracy, spreading the lie those who work to preserve the Republic are somehow the enemy. He warned of a small group of elites who run the country, after presiding as President leading a small group of elites on the far left working to undermine our Republic.
Obama claimed to love America. As President, he broke the law and violated the Constitution. How does that demonstrate love of country? He decimated, misused, and dishonored our military. How does that show patriotism?
He called for a new unity, a new bipartisanship, a rejection of resentment and the politics of division, then rattled off a laundry list of issues his adoring minions should ‘fight’ for in this ‘dark time.’ Here are those issues, already debated with logic and evidence, debates Obama and the Democrats lost in 2016, even with eight years of MSM buttressing:
Racist cops
School shootings
NRA activism, bad
Parkland activists, good (he referred to them as “kids”)
Abused women, #MeToo
Comparable worth
White nationalists, Charlottesville
Homeless people
Vets
Global Warming
Illiteracy
Healthcare
Redistribution
All the same old divisive issues, harped upon once again, not constructively, but used as political weapons to whip up emotions to turn out the vote. These issues are always presented as the fault of Republicans, existing because of the neglect of Republicans, because Republicans are selfish and mean and greedy and uncaring.
Whining about the politics of fear and division, Obama engages both, encourages both, depends upon both, expecting we don’t notice the hypocrisy.
The truth is Barack Obama spent eight years in the White House governing with fear and intimidation, leveraging fear and division to promote a far left, radical and anti-American agenda, all the while talking a good game about the Constitution, liberty, self-government, separation of powers . . . and believing none of it. He is a failed President, a deceiver, a radical, and an unethical anti-American operative. His radicalism is largely responsible for the huge Republican backlash lead by voters in 2016, a backlash birthed in 2008 by the Tea Party that Obama hates, a movement truly devoted to the Republic and the Constitution.
Our hope for change started way back then, and continues today, fueled in future by young people who see through Democrat lies, choosing instead to pick up the banner of Freedom.
“If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
