A Presidential Candidate Says He Does
“As America retreats “from the fixed boundaries of the moral order consistent with God’s character”, Christianity has been in every practical sense stripped from the culture. The ‘twisted’ now reign, and whatever their outward piety, they in reality scorn God.”
David Lane – President, American Renewal
On April 10th Pete Buttigieg, current Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and Democrat Presidential candidate, speaking at a political meeting pointed skyward saying the choice of being homosexual was made “far, far, above my pay grade” implying God made him that way and he had nothing to do with that.
On Sunday, April 7th, before his interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press”, the headline of that morning’s Washington Post said, “In Buttigieg, gay Americans see a symbol of acceptance.”
Shortly after that interview, Buttigieg spoke at a “packed hotel ballroom” to the LGBTQ Victory Fund saying, “if you have a problem with who I am, (referring to Vice President Mike Pence who is opposed to same sex marriage), your problem is not with me. Your quarrel, sir, is with my creator.”
Quarrel? Mike Pence has no quarrel with his creator. He is in agreement with what God has said about homosexuality. Furthermore, Pence has said nothing derogatory about Buttigieg. In fact, he has been gracious and complimentary throughout their relationship even about the above comments by Buttigieg.
So why is Buttigieg criticizing Mike Pence? And why is he offloading responsibility for his homosexuality on to his ‘creator’?
First, it is purely a political tactic to create controversy, gain free press and media attention; increase his following and funding amongst LGBT and sympathetic voters; all to improve his standing amidst his many competitors for the democrat nomination.
Second, and more important: to create a wedge between Christians who oppose so called ‘gay marriage’ and those who are more accepting.
Third, and most important: to answer why Buttigieg is ‘offloading’ the responsibility from himself, to his ‘creator’ for his homosexuality, is to justify himself. It is always easier for sinful flesh to rationalize and blame someone else rather than take responsibility for one’s own behavior. And of course, as with Adam in the Garden, blaming Eve for his acceptance of the offer to eat of the apple is illustrative, and the first proof of the fall of man which apart from the saving grace of God, continues to this day as illustrated by Buttigieg.
The USA reporter quoted him further as saying “The message many gay people get that there’s something wrong with them, he continued, “is a message that puts you at war not only with yourself, but with your maker.“
And indeed it does, and for good reason. The God of all wisdom, knowledge and truth says that homosexuality is an abomination. Where the well being of marriage, families, communities, and nations is mentioned or alluded to in Scripture, both Old and New Testaments are consistent in strongly disparaging the practice, even saying that those who engage in such will not enter heaven nor have eternal life.
Has God changed His mind? The Scripture is clear. God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He does not change. Does fallen and sinful man have such great influence with the Holy and unchanging God of the universe (Jehovah Maccaddeshcem – The LORD out sanctifier – Exodus 31:13) that He should change the ‘moral order’ of mankind to satisfy the desires of a small minority in America?
Buttigieg, characteristic of others in the homosexual movement for acceptance, dismisses eternal truth in order to justify himself and those like him by saying God made him this way, a false and misleading assertion whose impact on unbelievers, the naive, and the uninformed, if embraced, will have severe temporal and everlasting consequences.
May God deliver us from this type of theologically flawed, and humanistic world view thinking that denies the Sovereignty of God and the proven wisdom and authority of the Bible. If those who wish to lead us as a nation and people, embrace this type of fallacious thinking, they will certainly do so whenever and however it suits them.
“The ‘twisted’ now reign, and whatever their outward piety, they in reality scorn God.”
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.”
II Corinthians 10:4-5
Pray for our nation’s leaders, our pastors, and for the Body of Christ to find their voice in the war against the Left’s Efforts to destroy the nation.
