What we have forgotten

The Apostle Paul’s letter to the Christians in Rome
We have grown so accustomed to hearing and reading about “War” in the context of the world’s constant conflagrations and threats of ‘war’ between nations, that we forget the far more significant ‘war‘ to which Christians are called.
That ‘war’ is a battle for the mind and souls of men, women, and children around the world (Romans 12:2). It goes on before our eyes on a daily basis in our homes, schools, churches, the halls of government, business, media, and culture. It is a spiritual war with both temporal and eternal consequences, not just a temporary political truce that cannot be trusted to last.
After summarizing the Gospel and giving instructions on how we should relate to one another as believers in Christ, the Apostle Paul says…
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore, take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Ephesians 6:10-13
We are to ‘withstand‘ (resist, oppose, stand in opposition) and ‘stand‘ (stand firm, stedfast) against ‘the wiles of the devil, and the ‘darkness of this world’; against worldly authorities (‘rulers’) who exalt themselves and wield power ‘against the knowledge of God’, and are not subject to the laws of God.
It is both a personal, public, and political battle, one which is conducted in the heart, in our homes, the houses of education, civil government, the church, the public square, and at the ballot box; and… we are supposed to be engaged in it to the glory of God as did Peter, James, and John, Stephen, and the Apostle Paul.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds*, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.”
II Corinthians 10:4-5
* (As I have mentioned previously, secular humanism and it’s arguments that exalt itself over the knowledge of God is the stronghold that must be pulled down if America is to survive.)
God will not be mocked, nor shall the gates of hell prevail against the ‘Church’ (the ekklesia: the worldwide public assemblage of born again believers in Jesus Christ).
As believers in the one true God pray, and repent of our fear of man, CALL** one another to Stand, speak up, and mobilize our voices and VOTES in support of strong Christian world view candidates for local, state, and federal office in 2020, Oregon. . . and America, can restore citizen-led-government “Under God”, in Whom we say we trust.
** (Evangelical Christians make up the largest voting bloc in America, but more than 20 million do not vote in election after election – thus by our negligence – allow the unbelieving humanists to elect their candidates to office and impose their beliefs and values upon us all.)
