Memorial Crosses In America – Tear Them Down… Or Let Them Stand?

A Defining Moment In American History

“… when your children ask their fathers in times to come, saying ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ Then you shall answer them, That the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD; when it crossed over the Jordan… and these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.”
Joshua 4:6-7

On Tuesday, February 28th, the U.S Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the most pivotal spiritual issue of our time, whether this and future generations of Americans will be encouraged to remember why our Forefathers came to America; fought, and died; and generations of Americans since, have … even to our day, done the same.

As Joshua commanded the children of Israel to set up stones after they had crossed the Jordan, as a witness and memorial to remind all future generations of Israelites what God had done for them in delivering them from slavery in Egypt, the citizens of Bladensburg, Maryland wanted future generations of their community to remember those from Bladensburg who gave their all in World War I to preserve freedom in Europe and in America.

The Case against the Bladensburg Cross in Maryland before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, brought by the American Humanist Association (AHA), is not about so called ‘separation of church and state’ as the humanists wish to postulate. It is about the right of our citizens to memorialize and call to our remembrance the price that has been paid by so many for the freedom won first at the Cross of Christ and preserved down through two millennia by the fallen.

The Court should not be deceived. The issue before them stems more from hatred of Christianity, er go Christ and Christians, than appreciation for the freedoms that we have as a result of the Sacrifice of Christ and millions gone before us. If they rule against the Cross at Bladensburg, their decision will unnecessarily jeopardize hundreds of existing and future crosses that memorialize and honor those who gave all.

The goal of the AHA is to erase every memory of the One Who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Pray our LORD gives those who argue before the Court in defense of the Bladensburg Cross, a sufficient measure of His Holy Spirit to boldly uphold the truth.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove (by the power that dwells within you) what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”

Romans 12:2

“Our cause is noble; it is the cause of mankind!”
