Opening Our Eyes

Pray…and Fast

Our Father, and God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, may your continuous warnings awaken your children from their continuing slumber. Open our eyes by the power of your Holy Spirit to see the Truth of your eternal Word. Convict us of our sin, of pride and ingratitude for the Cross of our suffering Savior. May we see afresh the agony of His death on our behalf; His shed blood for the forgiveness of our sins, and promise of eternal life through the indwelling of His Holy
Spirit for all who place their faith in Him. May we lift up in prayer all who are undergoing severe loss in the fires of the West and those who have lost their loved ones and all they have to sustain them in the storms of the Gulf Coast. May they see the grace of God in those who come to them with kindness, food, comfort and all their needs in this world and the next. To Him be the glory forever and ever, Amen.

“Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain.”

“Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.

Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate saith the LORD.

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water.”
Jeremiah 2:11-13

America has exchanged it’s glory under God’s Providential favor, to serve false gods that deceive, and do not fulfill.

We go about our lives as if we do not understand what has gone wrong when heaven itself is astonished how we could not see.

Jeremiah, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, warned that the people of Judah, including their leaders, should be sore afraid of the desolation that was certain to come for turning away from their God to things that do not fulfill.

America – including Oregonians – are guilty of the same, and if not willing to return to the God of our Fathers with a broken and contrite heart, will face a similar if not worse judgement and enslavement at the Hand of the Living God.
