Opinions: What Are They … Really?
Opinion: “A view or judgement about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.” Oxford Dictionary
At a time when Americans are being manipulated and deceived by self-serving ideologues in social and mainstream media, as well as politicians and government officials . . . widespread knowledge of what is true – supported by facts – is essential if voters in 2024 are to know for whom to vote, and why.
Americans should not be making their decisions about who should be elected to local, state, and federal office, without sufficient knowledge supported by facts.
Opinion polls give only a sense of what the contemporary American mind believes, or thinks at any given time.
George Barna, Senior Research Fellow for Family Research Council’s Center for Biblical Worldview, found that “43% of adult churchgoers who attend church 1-3 times a month, claim to have a biblical worldview.“
The survey, however, conducted in June of 2023, revealed the real condition of the American Church.
For Instance:

A plurality of churchgoers (48%) agreed that “there are no moral absolutes that apply to everyone, all the time;” and . . . that “moral truth is up to each individual.” A view that contradicts Biblical teaching.

“In contrast, just 43% of Christian churchgoers disagreed with that notion, while 9% said they did not know.“

When asked what the purpose of life was, “half of people regularly attending church services said that (our) purpose is:
-
—creating a more humane society, through reason, dialogue, and good will (13%),
-
—experiencing happiness and fulfillment (9%),
-
—bringing order and direction to your own life, based on what matters to you (8%),
-
—experiencing total fulfillment through relationships and productivity (7%), and
-
—advancing world peace and understanding (5%).
Whatever happened to Jesus’ saying “All authority is given unto me in heaven and earth. Go therefore and teach all nations to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you”? (Matthew 28:18-20)

“Shockingly, when asked if they were “searching for your purpose in life,” among churched adults, nearly two-thirds (63%) admitted they are still searching for their purpose in life.“
And we wonder why a growing number of our children, in the last several generations have lost faith in the church; their parent’s nominal and confused ‘faith’; secularized and falsified Christianity; and run hopelessly to alcohol, drugs, empty debauchery, suicide, and misguided protests?
Whatever happened to the teaching of the New Testament that “God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” (II Corinthians 5:18-19); and, Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27-28).
Are we not responsible as citizens of heaven…and citizens of earth to speak truth to our neighbor, our sons and daughters, our elected officials, and those who wish to represent us?
Did Jesus not say, “You (we) are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a Buschel, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14)
