As America, Israel, and the world, writhes in uncertainty and fear of what the future will bring, Christians around the world are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, foretold by the Jewish Prophets seven centuries before His birth. So why do we celebrate?
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful Counsellor; The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6
We celebrate because the “Prince of Peace”, the “Son of God” was born in Bethlehem of Judea. It is He Who “bore our griefs” and “carried our sorrows. It was He Who “was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities”, and “with his stripes we are healed.”
So why wouldn’t we celebrate?
“Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ”, Who proved He was the “Son of God”. The Old Testament Prophets prophesied of His coming, His character, and His death on our behalf, 700 years before His birth.
If, as many contend — Jesus was not who He said He was, the Son of God; did not perform the miracles that were witnessed by thousands; was not resurrected from the dead three days later as He told His disciples he would be — why does He have the largest following in the world (2.4 billion)?
Might it be that millions down through history came to realize that His sacrificial death to atone for our sin, opened the door to everlasting life for all who would simply place their faith in Him as their Saviour and LORD?
Could it also be the incomprehensible fact that our creator so loved the world that He would send His only begotten Son to give His life for the sins of mankind, setting us free from sin and death?
Was it not the love of God that softened the hearts of millions down through the centuries, and whose authority was recognized by our Founders, that led to the freest and most productive people and nation in the world?
Was it not the promise and experience of His Life in us, here on earth and offer of eternal Life for all who believed in Him?
It is recorded in the Gospel of Luke that the Mother of Jesus, before Jesus was born, said to her cousin Elizabeth…
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit has rejoiced in
God my Savior.
For He has regarded the lowly
state of His maidservant;
For behold, henceforth all
generations will call me
blessed.
For He who is mighty has
done great things for me,
and holy is His name.
And His mercy is on those
who fear Him
from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with
His arm;
He has scattered the proud in
the imagination of their Hearts.
He has put down the mighty
from their thrones,
And exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with
good things,
And the rich He has sent
away empty.
He has helped His servant Israel,
In remembrance of His mercy,
As He spoke to our fathers,
To Abraham and to his seed
forever.”

The Greatest Gift?
The Greatest Gift in all history is from God the Father, our Creator. It is Christ the Lord, His only begotten Son, born of a Virgin, given before the Foundation of the World to Save us from our sinful selves; to redeem us from the diabolic plans of the enemy of our souls.
He came to save ‘whosoever’ would believe in Him, from the power of sin and death, and grant him or her, eternal life in His Kingdom to come at the end of the age.
He is Worthy of Our Worship and Celebration of His Birth
