After several years of traveling the State of Oregon attempting to awaken pastors and pew sitters to the dangerous path on which both Oregon and America had embarked decades earlier, I formed Restore America to further that Calling.
After two tours of duty to Vietnam, two years as a Young Life Director in Davis, California, 4 years at Dallas Seminary, three years in Pastoral Ministry, and two years in business, Merrily and I returned to Oregon with our two young sons, to find the state of my birth and upbringing steadily departing from its historic Christian roots.
Alarmed at the liberal bent of both the Bend Bulletin and Bend-Lapine School Board I ran for and was elected to the Board. What followed from the day I announced was an education in the politics of how liberals and the teacher’s unions gained control of both the curriculum and direction of education in the district under the noses of unsuspecting parents, pastors, and taxpayers.
It was at that time that I became acquainted with Secretary of Education William Bennett and David Barton, Founder of Wallbuilders, a Christian Ministry focused on awakening Christians nationwide to their Christian roots and Heritage, something I never heard about as a Political Science major with a minor in U.S. History at the University of Oregon.
After a year on the School Board pointing out the revisionist history of district textbooks; attempting (and failing) to get Abstinence Sex Education approved to be taught at the district high schools, it became obvious that the School Board, and Administrators, were afraid of the Teacher’s Union. Nothing of significance happened without Union approval. The education of our children had become politicized, and so it is across the nation.
After pointing out to Board, Administrators, and Parents that district counselors were driving female students to Portland’s “Lovejoy” Clinic to have an abortion, returning the same day without their parent’s knowledge or consent, it became obvious that I was no longer welcome on the Board. I subsequently resigned, urging parents to take their children out of the District’s public schools until educators and School Board respected parental rights in the education of their children.
Shortly after my resignation all the Board Members, save one, were recalled.
I later served on the State Executive Board of the Republican Party. That Board was dominated and controlled by liberal pro-choice Republicans from Portland who wanted nothing to do with a pro-life Christian who had the idea that Christian Citizens had a legitimate voice at the table. We were a threat to their secular agenda. Virginians recently discovered the same intransigence and took matters into their own hands at the ballot box.
Why do I say all the above?
What our children are taught about who they are – not as fallen and foolish men and women are now asserting, but as God clearly ordained from the beginning – will determine who and what we are as a nation; either a people who understand what it means to be a nation “Under God”, or a nation under godless, and misguided men and women with an agenda that will destroy our children and traditional families, as well as the nation.
The latter means that fallen men will determine what is right in their sight, not God’s, as do America’s current leaders. If not stopped, our God-Ordained Freedoms, and the ‘eternal rules of order and right’ will be trampled underfoot by three successive generations that have been subjected to a flawed, God-denying, and narcissistic Education system that has permeated America’s public schools since the1960s.
Is that what we want for our children, already confused by culture-killing ideas of deranged minds and godless ideologues who have risen to power in local, state, and federal government, including State Departments of education?
Leaders lead! They see a problem and seek to resolve it. They are action-oriented and take initiative. They do NOT waste time. They ACT!“
If anything is to change for our children, proven Leaders must ACT, including pastors, parents, and leaders who are known for their Christian values and service.
Candidate Forums and voter registration drives MUST be held in America’s Communities and Cities, large and small, before the Primaries, especially in our churches.
Voter Guides must be distributed in each Venue where Christians and Conservatives gather, whether in churches, Conferences, Sporting Events, Home Groups, or Church events.
As parents and citizens who love their children, and our God-ordained freedoms, we have the right and responsibility as citizens of a democratic republic to choose our leaders. Electing leaders who know and understand our Judeo-Christian Heritage and respect our Founding Documents and values is a necessity, not an option.
We must not succumb to the misguided foolishness of contemporary rejectors of eternal truth. We the people are not obliged to accept their carte blanche ideas of right and wrong as ‘gospel’.
if we continue as we are now, the nation will disintegrate into greater confusion, conflict, poverty, and lawlessness, leading inevitably to total government control; which many believe is the goal of the Biden Administration.
Spiritually and emotionally Healthy children and families are the most important part of American life, what we all hold most dear, and in common, no matter what Political Party or persuasion. They are the key to America’s future, yet they are now the victims of narcissistic adult society and groups that cherish their personal and political ambitions and desires above all else.
That must, and can be… stopped!
