An “American Moment” Revisited

This morning, two important voices were heard on FoxNews about what needs to take place immediately to avoid the developing catastrophe in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The first was retired Four Star General Jack Keane, the most respected, astute and informed General in America.

Here is his statement regarding the situation in Kabul:

“Job One is to get all our American citizens and partners out of Afghanistan.

President Biden should absolutely make a public announcement as well as tell Department of Defense and State Department, we will stay in Afghanistan as long as it takes to get our citizens home and our partners out Period!
Authorize the Department of Defense to apply all the resources that are available to them or what they need to accomplish that mission and if that means establishing safe corridors or pick up hubs, or whatever is necessary to break the optics or impediments that are stopping our Citizens and Afghan partners from getting through the checkpoints.
Nothing here is too hard to do.”

“Job Two is how to contain the Taliban government that’s running Afghanistan.

Begin politically with not recognizing it! Not giving it legitimacy.
Make a declaration to our Allies that there will be consequences if there is any recognition of this barbarous and tyrannical regime.
Second, declare this regime a terrorist organization to isolate and contain them.
Freeze any kind of capital from coming into this country from the IMf (international monetary fund, United Nations, U.S. groups, Allies and Partners and cut off any stream heading to Afghanistan.
Make sure it is severed, so there is political and economic isolation of this regime.
Nothing has been said so far by the Biden Administration about how his administration plans to provide information about the terrorist organizations that will form there, so we can track them and take action to intervene against them.
The “over-the-horizon” idea is “wishful thinking”.”

The Second Statement came from Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
Much the same as above as found in the Wall Street Journal OPED they co-authored, with the following added:

Of Biden: “If he does not get every American out and every Afghan who fought alongside our troops out, he has committed a high crime or misdemeanor and a dereliction of duty.”

“Any military commander would be court martialed for leaving our people behind, and the Commander and Chief owes it to every American Citizen and Afghan who fought along our side, to get them out, because if we leave them behind they are going to be slaughtered!”

Biden Press Conference

At a 12:40 PM CST Press Conference, President Biden lauded and defended the DOD and State Department for their their efforts and demonstrated a complete lack of knowledge or awareness of what was happening on the ground at the hands of the Taliban.

He failed to demonstrate a serious commitment and plan to get every citizen and Afghan partner out of Afghanistan. His statement that all of our Nato Allies had no problem with his decision, when the facts prove he is lying or mentally challenged; reminiscent of his repeated denials that he knew anything of his son’s business dealings.

He addressed none of the things General Keane spoke of. His mind is made up, He is right in his own sight and demonstrated an inability to comprehend how damaging his decisions are to all Americans, Afghans, and the perception of America around the world. He is blind to the moral implications of his decisions, not only for Afghans but for Americans, and how our word is perceived. It is not only a tragedy for the Afghans but for America as well.

The uncertain path our President has chosen to take to protect the lives of those in Afghanistan, both American and Afghan, who believed in freedom, our word, and our sacred honor . . . is at stake.

Americans face the strong possibility that everything we say that we are as a free people, and the most powerful nation in the world in defense of freedom, and all that is right and good, hangs in the balance.

This is a ‘defining’ moment, in American history, and for America’s future.

A “wait and see” approach versus a strong and definitive ACTION PLAN calling on our military forces, is not leadership. It is a sure path to disaster.

Pray that God in the power of the Holy Spirit moves in the hearts of men who revere truth to speak up and lead us in the way forward.
