Parents, Politicians, And Protecting Our Children

“Permit the children to come to me;
do not hinder them; for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
Jesus in Mark 10:14

Throughout the world by God’s design – and apart from mankind’s fallen and sinful nature – there is nothing more universal than the love of parents for their children and desire to protect them. Tragically however, the increase of heinous, immoral, and murderous acts perpetrated on our young from the womb to the classrooms of America, has metastasized like a California wildfire.

As the trafficking of children, young women and boys, the marketing of fetal body parts, and the exploitation of young women for sexual purposes is increasingly exposed, the mindless murder of 17 people – mostly teens – by a classmate in a Florida school this past week, punctuated the darkness and destitution of our society like a laser beam.

At least it should have.

Instead of discussing the real cause of our fall from grace into a moral pit of depravity, confusion about who we are, and social upheaval, the nation’s talking heads in the media and politics are, as usual, blaming the National Rifle Association (NRA), mental illness (a symptom of the problem), and the failure of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for what happened in Florida in order to deflect the national discussion away from the truth.

While we Christians should be calling our leaders and elected officials to stop the unrestrained lawlessness that the ‘God is dead’ secular humanist philosophy has perpetrated on America through their control of our courts, education, government, and media–Our pulpits, pews, public square and voting booths should be “aflame with righteousness” as Alexis de Tocqueville wrote in 1835 was “the secret of America’s genius and power.”

The following comments on February 15th, by Todd Starnes, best-selling author and nationally-syndicated columnist, state what is obvious to mature Christians but totally ridiculed by the scoffers who control the media, civil government, academia, and our educational system.

“Another American high school has been turned into a killing field. And the nation wonders why.
We’ve raised a generation to believe that truth is relative – that there is no right or wrong.

They kicked God out of public schools – banned Bibles and prayer.

We’ve destroyed the traditional family – broken homes raising broken kids.

There are no consequences for bad behavior — no personal responsibility.

Our movies and music and games glorify violence and gore. Relationships poisoned by pornography.

What happened in Parkland, Florida is about wickedness – a war with the forces of darkness – good versus evil.
Our land is wounded, her people suffering.
But we have turned our back on the One who promised to heal our Land.
The politicians and pundits would have you believe this is not about God – it’s about politics and mental illness and gun control. And the devil smiled.”

Jesus said, “Permit the children to come to me; do not hinder them;” yet we abort them before they see the light of day. Nor will we allow them to hear about Him in our public schools since the early 1950’s. Does any thinking Christian really wonder why these things are happening?

Our Father, “come quickly” has become our cry as we see our nation and mankind sinking into darkness. We know however that Satan knows his end and that these things will come to pass at the end of the age in which we live. We pray for Christians around the world as Satan leads his legions to steal away our faith and trust in You, kill, and destroy both our lives and our light in Christ as a witness to the world of Your love and redeeming work for sinners who know You not.

And for our brethren in Oregon and around the nation, renew our strength to stand strong for righteousness, for Your Glory, our neighbor’s salvation, and our children. In the only Name by which men and women boys and girls, may be saved, Who is and ever will be, the King of kings. Amen
